“[T]here is something undeniably human in the music: a warmth, a sense of intimacy, a feeling of being invited into a space that is both reflective and generous.”

Keep Moving (home)
May 1, 2026
Keep Moving (Home) on Calligram Records is Brian’s most ambitious recording to date. It features his “lyrical yet modern guitar playing” (Fareed Haque) on fourteen original compositions performed by his quartet: Nick Mazzarella on saxophones and Wurlitzer, Quin Kirchner on drums and percussion, and Matt Ulery on electric and double bass.
Recorded to tape by engineer Dave Vettraino at Chicago’s Palisade Studio, the album presents an “emotionally resonant … convergence of composition, performance, sound, and visual presentation” (Paris Move). The music flows from Brian’s experiences as a musician and human rights lawyer living in India and traveling in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
The album is available on vinyl, CD, and digital download, featuring photography by Samuel Lynn Davis III and poetry inspired by the music written by Brian's uncle, award-winning poet Christopher Citro.

The hey Lows
Comer Post
The Hey Lows blend lofi aesthetics, hip-hop beats, jazz harmony, and improvisation into something new. Founded and led by Brian Citro and Lance Loiselle, the group draws from Chicago’s rich musical heritage to create music that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. Think mellow vibes with mean beats, structure from spontaneity.
Their new album, Comer Post, on Chicago’s DIBS Records features Clif Wallace on drums and Gerald Bailey on trumpet and electronics. Recorded live at the Gary Comer Youth Center studio on Chicago’s South Side, they reshaped the music in post-production, reimagining sections and adding new layers with fresh parts.
I received an Individual Artists Program grant from the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events!
The award supports the production of my new album Keep Moving (Home)on Calligram Records, featuring my quartet with Nick Mazzarella, Quin Kirchner, and Matt Ulery.
